PS2 vs XBOX in Japan
Most of you probably know how the XBOX never really took off in Japan. Well, I just saw some sales figures for the week before christmas, and it is quite striking.
The PS2? 97,475 units sold.
The Xbox? 141 units sold.
But, you might say, surely this is because the XBOX 360 is now out? Well sure, to a point. How many units did the 360 sell? 5,674.
Microsoft has failed again in Japan despite all their efforts to avoid the fate this time around. For the interested, here is the full list:
1) 597,628 - Nintendo DS
2) 161,332 - Sony PlayStation Portable
3) 97,475 - Sony PlayStation Two
4) 36,646 - Nintendo GameCube
5) 35,764 - Nintendo GameBoy Advance SP
6) 19,261 - Nintendo GameBoy Micro
7) 5,674 - Microsoft Xbox 360
8) 906 - Nintendo GameBoy Advance
9) 141 - Microsoft Xbox
