Surroundsound gaming headset for laptops

I was poking about looking at some sponsors of the ATI-Revolution LAN party, when I happened accross the LTB-USB-M headset.

They look pretty neat, 5.1 audio, USB interface so I don't need to buy a soundcard for my laptop, and a decent step up from my trusty Plantronics Audio .90s. I've sent an email to LTB asking about hardware acceleration, and it has been forwarded to their tech support. I'll update later.

A win for copyright rights

Bush just signed into law the Family Entertainment and Copyright Act legislation, or FECAL as I like to call it ;)

Seriously though, it's a nice improvement that ensures some fair-use for DVDs, which immediately blocks at least one MPAA lawsuit. Good show!

TV Star Wars series on the way

Lucas has announced that he's going to be making two Star Wars television series. One of them is going to be a CG animation remake of the Clone Wars shorts with 30-minute eps, and the second one is a real live-action series placed between episode 3 and 4.

I'm looking forward to the live-action one, we can always use more good live-action sci-fi. I'm not so big on the CG one, as I'm not entirely convinced they can do it without making it look silly, and even if it doesn't, it's covering old ground.

A job? Looks like.

It looks like I've got a job at NITI for the summer. Hurray! It will be nice to avoid the evil Job Hunt, the bane of students everywhere ;)

I'm planning on continuing without vacation. That is to say, I just keep on working, except I come in 5 days a week instead of 3. And I get paid. This will probably be the best summer job I've ever had.

Err, that's it. No witty comments or interesting technology news today :)

What? You mean I don't update?

Bah I say, bah! 'Tis true, I haven't updated this blog in nearly a year. Well, here is an update for you.

How about some gaming news? Pictures of the XBox 360 have been leaked to the internet. They look very real, and seem to indicate a removable hard-drive. When you consider that the XBox 360 is supposed to have three 3.0GHz G5 processors, and a next-gen GPU that would blow away the X850, the XBox 360 will blow away any desktop on the market today. Damn it! I hate consoles, why can't we get this kind of power for console-like prices in a REAL computer :)

In other news, as it's my last semester in CompSci at John Abbott, I've been on Stage (Think Co-Op) for the past few months at NITI. I'm hoping to get a summer job there before heading off to Concordia, but since I haven't heard back in the designated timeframe, things do not look good. Oh well, I have some other possibilities lined up.

Oh, and if you haven't already seen Robot Chicken, get it. Now. You will laugh until your insides hurt, and begin longing for the next 11-minute episode.
